The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore commences work for the Year 2023

The ceremonial commencement of work of the High Commission of Sri Lanka on 2 January 2023 began with a Pirith chanting ceremony organized by the High Commission staff at the Chancery with the participation of Ven. Monks of the Sri Lankaramaya Buddhist Temple in Singapore, led by its Chief incumbent Rev. Karaputugala Rathanananda Thero.

The Official ceremony for the New Year 2023 commenced with the hoisting of the national flag and the singing of the national anthem by the staff, which were followed by the observance of a two minutes silence in remembrance of the war heroes and those who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland.  Thereafter, the staff took the “Oath of Public Servants” pledging to work, efficiently and productively.

Speaking on the occasion the High Commissioner highlighted the salient points of the President’s New Year message and stated that the country demands the active contribution and dedication of public service to overcome the present economic crisis of the country.

The High Commissioner recalled the valuable assistance extended throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic and the current difficult economic situation by the Government of Singapore.  High Commissioner further stressed the need for a specific focus on trade and investment promotion and foreign employment opportunities in view of its development approach to achieve the economic prosperity of the country.

The Mission staff were served with kiribath and traditional sweetmeats at the end of the ceremony.
