National Day Reception for the Diplomatic Crops at the Official Residence of Sri Lanka Embassy in Rome

H.E. the Ambassador, Nawalage Bennet Cooray hosted a reception in the evening of the 4th February 2014 at the official residence for the Diplomatic Corps.  Ambassadors and their Spouses from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Japan, Thailand, Philippine, Malaysia, Indonesia and High Rank officers of the Foreign Ministry of Italy including the Deputy Chief of Protocol and the Director of the Asia desk presented for this occasion.

66th Independence Day celebrations – Sri Lanka Embassy, Bangkok, Thailand

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok celebrated the 66th anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka on 4th February 2014 with the participation of Hon. Governor of Sri Ayutthaya Province of Thailand, a large number of expatriate Sri Lankan community members living in Thailand and well-wishers. 

The auspicious ceremony commenced with the Ambassador hoisting the National Flag amidst playing of Magul Bera at the official residence. A two-minute silence was observed in honour of all war heroes who laid their lives to preserve and protect the freedom, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the motherland.

66th Independence Day celebrations – Jakarta

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta celebrated the 66th Independence Day of Sri Lanka at the Embassy premises on 04th February 2014, with the participation of religious leaders, dignitaries of the Indonesian institutions and agencies, a large number of Sri Lankans living in Indonesia and Indonesian school children, who joined for the occasion for the first time in the history of the Embassy in Jakarta.

Sri Lanka High Commission in Nigeria celebrates the 66th Anniversary of the National Day.

Sri Lanka’s 66th Independence Day celebrations were held, for the first time in Nigeria, at the Chancery premises, with the participation of the High Commissioner and the home-based staff and the local staff attached to the Mission. The National Flag was hoisted by H.E. P.D.P.S.A. Liyanage, High Commissioner, while playing Magula Bera in the background, followed by the National Anthem.
