Sri Lanka – Switzerland signs agreement for regular political dialogue and cooperation
Sri Lankan students at Jeju National University, South Korea, win postgraduate awards of excellence
All awards of excellence for Masters and Doctoral Studies at Jeju National University at the Convocation Ceremony for the year 2015 were won by Sri Lankan students studying at the University. This is the first time in the history of Jeju National University that all such awards of excellence at Master and Doctoral levels have been won by Sri Lankan students. This is also the first time that all such awards at a Convocation Ceremony have been won by students from one foreign country.
Sri Lanka announces readiness to become a State Party to the Ottawa Convention
Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha said on Wednesday (2 March 2016) that the Cabinet of Ministers earlier in the same morning had approved that Sri Lanka accedes to the ‘Convention on the Prohibition of the use, stockpiling, production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destructions’, which is commonly known as the ‘Ottawa Convention’.

Inaugural US – Sri Lanka Partnership Dialogue convened in Washington
Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera was in Washington DC on 25 and 26 February for the inaugural US – Sri Lanka Partnership Dialogue. The Partnership Dialogue is a regular policy consultation designed to discuss and identify opportunities for cooperation across the full range of bilateral and regional issues.
Sri Lanka and the Philippines signs Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations – “an important step towards further deepening the Philippines’ engagement with Sri Lanka”
Sri Lanka and the Philippines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Manila on Wednesday 03 February 2016 aimed at forging greater cooperation and further enhancing relations between the two countries with the Philippines’ Secretary of Foreign Affairs Albert F. Del Rosario stating that the MoU was “an important step towards further deepening the Philippines’ engagement with Sri Lanka.”
