Ambassador of Sri Lanka Jagath Wellawatte presented his Letters of Credence to the Captains Regent of the Republic of San Marino, Maria Luisa Berti and Manuel Ciavatta on 22 March 2023 at Palazzo Pubblico.
At the Credential Ceremony, the Ambassador conveyed the greetings of the President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe to Their Excellencies the Captains Regent of San Marino.
Further, the Ambassador briefed on the Government of Sri Lanka's new economic and social reforms and new economic strategies. While referring to the cordial relations between Sri Lanka and San Marino, Ambassador Wellawatte emphasized on further strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries, focusing on economic cooperation, educational cooperation, investments and trade, labour promotion and tourism.
Ambassador Jagath Wellawatte met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Economic Cooperation and Telecommunications of the Republic of San Marino Luca Beccari on 21 March 2023 and had an extensive discussion regarding on strengthening the bilateral relations on the above arenas, between the two countries.
Subsequently, the Ambassador met the President of the Agency for the Economic Development - Chamber of Commerce of San Marino and spoke on exploring opportunities to invest in renewable energy, apparel and related industries, tourism and investment opportunities.
