Consul General of Sri Lanka meets President of CCPIT Guangdong Committee

Consul General of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou Priyangika Dharmasena recently met with the President of the China Council for the promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee (CCPIT) Lin Tao in order to  seek further cooperation in trade and commerce between Sri Lanka and the Guangdong Province.

 During the meeting, Consul General Dharmasena recalled the Memorandum of understanding signed between the Guangdong Province and Sri Lanka Export Development Board in November 2014, for the promotion of bilateral cooperation for development of trade and economic relations between the Province and Sri Lanka. She also referred to the South Asia Investment and Trade Alliance (SAITA) inaugurated by the CCPIT of Guangdong Province on 15 March 2017 to assist Guangdong companies to open up South Asian markets and strengthen the economic cooperation between Guangdong and South Asia.

The Consul General requested the CCPIT to assist in arranging Sri Lanka trade & investment seminars and forums in the Guangdong Province.

President Tao welcomed further cooperation in trade and investment between the two sides and highlighted that there is a great potential for higher levels of commercial interaction between Sri Lanka and Guangdong Province.
