On the invitation of the Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou, Priyangika Dharmasena attended the opening Ceremony of the 8th Session of the 6th Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress on 08 January 2020 in Shenzhen to listen to the Report on the Work of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government.
Shenzhen has constantly promoted pragmatic cooperation with international friendship cities or conducted friendly exchanges with 86 cities and regions in 55 countries and regions around the world in the fields of economy and trade, culture, science and technology and vocational education. Sri Lanka has a MoU with Shenzhen since 2013, to develop friendly cooperation on areas including in economy and trade, culture, science and technology, tourism and education.
At the dinner hosted by Shenzhen Municipal Congress, for the Consular Corps, Consul General Dharmasena interacted with the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress, He Hai Tao and Deputy Director General Richard Zhong and other officials of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government and both sides welcomed further cooperation between Shenzhen and Sri Lanka including in fields of commerce, trade, culture and student exchanges.
During the visit, the Consular Corps also visited the Pingan Financial Centre, which is the tallest building in Shenzhen.
