During a courtesy call, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou, Priyangika Dharmasena met with the chief abbot Ven. Ming sheng who is also the President of the Guangdong Buddhist Association, at the Guangxiao temple on 22.04.2019, The temple is considered as the oldest place in Guangzhou, built in the Jin and Qing dynasties and a popular pilgrimage site for Zen Buddhists.

Consul General Dharmasena recalled that Sri Lanka and the Guangxiao temple have good relations from the past and have close cooperation in Buddhist matters and requested for such cooperation to continue.

Ven. Mingsheng was happy to mention that he had visited Sri Lanka many times and hope to visit Sri Lanka in the following year for the Vesak celebrations. He also conveyed his profound condolences to Sri Lanka for the tragic loss of lives and property on account of the terrorist bombings in Sri Lanka and also conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families.

Ven. Mingsheng had been awarded in Sri Lanka for his excellent work on carrying forward Buddhism and making contributions to the friendship of the two countries. He had also assisted Sri Lanka in flood relief.
