- Pumped millions in to bicentenary war celebrations

- Regular participant in Allies' D-day landing anniversary events

The Canadian government which insists that Sri Lanka retire the Victory Day celebrations that marked the establishment of peace after ending 30 years of terrorism, pumped millions of dollars last year for the celebration of the bicentenary of the 1812 War.

Canada marked this bicentenary with a nationwide program of events, ranging from art exhibitions to re-enactments, as well as $20 million worth of capital improvements to various war-related historic sites around Canada.

This showed the duplicity of the Canadian government which is demanding that Sri Lanka desists from celebrating the dawn of peace after eliminating 30 years of terrorism.

The War of 1812 was a David versus Goalith style war between United States and Britain fought for three years over Canada until 1815 and it resulted in thousands of Americans and British deaths from both combat and disease. Meanwhile, Military spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasuriya said that Canada joined the annual Allied victory celebrations over Nazism in World War II.

Nazism was nothing but another form of terrorism, the Brigadier said urging the global community not to misconstrue the military parade.

"Would Allied powers ever stop celebrating D-Day landings in France beginning June 5, 1944, to pave the way for victory over Nazi Germany. Would Canada stop participating in D-Day celebrations?"
