Three Presidents’ Scouts of Sri Lanka in the Japanese Contingent at the “25th World Scout Jamboree” in South Korea

Ambassador E. Rodney M. Perera, along with Embassy staff, met and congratulated three Presidents’ Scouts of Sri Lanka currently living in Japan; Prasad Dunstan, Saitama Prefecture, Kasun Priyankara, Kanagawa Prefecture and Bhanuka Karunarathna, Shizuoka Prefecture, who have the privilege of being selected to represent the Japanese Scout Contingent to the 25th World Scout Jamboree 2023 to be held in SaeManGeum, South Korea from August 1 to 12 August 2023.

The upcoming World Scout Jamboree is hosted by the Korea Scout Association together with the World Scout Association under the theme, "Draw Your Dream". Approximately 50,000 participants are expected to attend the Jamboree from all over the world. The total Japanese contingent at the World Jamboree is expected to be 1,578.

All three Sri Lankan scouts have continued their scouting journey since their school days in Sri Lanka and now selected to represent the scouting troops in their prefectures of domicile in Japan working with community scouts. Their journey as scout leaders in Japan while being Sri Lankans have uniquely placed them to promote Sri Lankan culture and scouting practices, sharing experiences and mutual learning through connecting Sri Lankan and Japanese scouting fraternities.
