The Sri Lanka Medical Heavy Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Contingent, comprising specially trained Tri-Forces personnel, deployed in Myanmar following the earthquake on 28 March 2025, successfully completed its humanitarian mission.

The contingent arrived in Myanmar on 05 April 2025, and was moved to Nay Pyi Taw, the administrative capital, and was deployed in earthquake-affected areas to provide critical medical support to the affected communities. During the mission, the Sri Lanka Medical Contingent provided essential medical care to approximately 2,000 patients across 16 Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Centers in the townships of Pobha, Suba, Lewe, Deikhiathiri, and Pyinmana. Their operations were carried out in close coordination with the Government of Myanmar, with facilitation from the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Yangon.

The mission was concluded on 23 April 2025, and the contingent returned to Yangon on 24 April and made a call on the Ambassador. During the brief meeting followed, the Ambassador commended the contingent’s professionalism, dedication, and outstanding humanitarian service, emphasizing their contribution towards strengthening the historic bonds and people-to-people ties between Sri Lanka and Myanmar.

The contingent officially departed to Colombo from Yangon International Airport on 25 April 2025.
