Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to India attends “Khadi Fashion Walk” at North East Expo 2019 in New Delhi

Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to India Austin Fernando was the Chief Guest at the “Khadi Fashion Walk” of All India Women’s Education Fund Association (AIWEFA) held on 03 November 2019 at the North East Expo 2019 in New Delhi.

The North East Expo 2019 was organized by the All India Women’s Education Fund Association (AIWEFA) to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and his 100-year association with ‘Khadi’ or home-spun cotton cloths.

The event held at the Lady Irwin College in New Delhi on 03 November 2019, was an initiative to bring together all the eight States of North –East India to create a platform for North East craft persons, to promote ‘Khadi’ and handloom textiles, preservation of distinctive arts to showcase the culture, farm sector and spirit. The North East Expo 2019, was also a platform for entrepreneurs from the eight North-East States to open up trade and commerce with ASEAN and BIMSTEC nations through Tea and Khadi Diplomacy.
