The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bahrain partnered with Al Jazira supermarket Chain to be part of a three day Fruit promotion which commenced on 28 May 2025. Tropical Sri Lankan fruit such as Pineapples, Papaya, Mangoes, Strawberries, Avocado, Guava and Passion fruit were the highlights on display. Sri Lankan fresh strawberries from Jagro and the Sri Lankan Pineapple from CR Exports proved to be very popular with the Bahraini guests and customers who were at the Supermarket.
A live cooking demo was held by the chefs at Al Jazira supermarket to promote the different varieties of mangoes from Sri Lanka, India and Thailand. The in-store merchandising displays also created awareness of the health benefits of mangoes.
The three day Fruit promotion had separate sections featuring seasonal fruits from Thailand and India as well. The event was officially inaugurated by the Chairman of Al Jazira Supermarket Abdul Hussein Dawani alongside the Ambassador of Sri Lanka Shanika Dissanayake, the Ambassador of Thailand and the Head of the Commercial Section of the Indian Embassy in Bahrain.
The Sri Lanka Embassy in Bahrain will be carrying out further promotions across Bahrain to tap into the growing Bahraini interest for flavourful, tropical fruit.
