
A landmark event celebrating the expansion of Sri Lankan Ayurveda in the United Kingdom took place on 11 December 2025 at the Sri Lanka High Commission in London with the official launch of the Siddhalepa & Ayurveda Medical UK Collaborative. The event brought together dignitaries, Ayurvedic and medical professionals, wellness industry leaders, and members of both the Sri Lankan and British communities to mark the establishment of a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing access to authentic Sri Lankan Ayurveda in the UK.
Welcome remarks were delivered by Director of Ayurveda Medical UK, Dr Roshan Jayalath, who outlined the collaboration’s commitment to strengthening clinical quality, safeguarding cultural integrity, and elevating global recognition of Sri Lanka’s medical heritage. Addressing the gathering, High Commissioner Nimal Senadheera emphasised the initiative’s importance in promoting Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage, strengthening bilateral links, and advancing opportunities for collaboration in Ayurveda and wellness. He reaffirmed the High Commission’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance Sri Lanka’s global presence. Joining virtually from Sri Lanka, Chairman of the Siddhalepa Group, Asoka Hettigoda, spoke on the company’s 200-year Ayurvedic lineage, 90-year commercial history, and its position as a global leader in authentic Ayurveda. Shevanthie Goonesekera followed with “The Origins of Siddhalepa,” reflecting on the brand’s evolution and enduring contribution to Sri Lankan heritage. Directors Prof Vijay Nayar and Dr Prag Moodley presented the collaborative’s vision for a structured and clinically responsible model of Ayurveda in the UK, while Dr Vani Moodley spoke on diagnostic principles and the philosophy of Ayurveda Signs of Life.
The programme concluded with an interactive Q&A session and a Vote of Thanks delivered by Seelan Moodley, followed by a networking reception and traditional Sri Lankan dinner. The Siddhalepa & Ayurveda Medical UK Collaborative is expected to strengthen educational, clinical, cultural, and economic ties between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom, while further advancing the global reach of authentic Sri Lankan Ayurveda.
