Sri Lankan Film ‘Ira Sevaya’ Screened in Kathmandu

“Dhammo Hawe Rakkhathi Dhamma Chari”, this is Lord Buddha's saying that those who are committed to the path of Dhamma [Virtues] are Protected by the Dhamma itself.

A Sri Lankan feature film “Ira Sevaya - Sun Rise”, (a spiritual film) was screened as its premier show on 5th September 2014  at the Russian Centre of Culture and Science, Kathmandu. The film has been directed by Mr. Rodney Widanapathirana, popular drama producer, film maker and travel writer of Sri Lanka.

Hon. Dr. Narayan Khadka, Minister of Urban Development of Nepal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.   Hon. Duminda Dissanyake, Minister of Education Services, Sri Lanka attended the event as a guest of honour.

The programme started with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp. Mr. W. M. Senevirathna, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal welcomed the invitees and thanked Mr. Rodney Vidanapathirana for taking the initiative to screen the film in Kathmandu.

Prior to screening of the film, two minutes silence was observed in memory of late Mrs. Rebecca Nirmalee who is the main actress of Ira Sevaya-Sun Rise”.

This  Film “ Ira Sevaya- Sun Rise” which provides a deep meaning of the reality of the human being and  finding of solutions for the various disputes.  Finally, the Truth found and will prevail according to the teachings of the Lord Buddha.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu, Nepal organized the screening of the film and the event was attended by a distinguished audience consisting of Nepalese and Sri Lankan dignitaries as well as members of the diplomatic corps in Kathmandu.
