Sri Lanka showcased at the Annual International Tourism Mart (IMTM) in Israel.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka participated at the 19th International Mediterranean Tourism Mart(IMTM) held on 5th and 6th February 2013 at the Israel Trade Fairs and Exhibition Centre in Tel Aviv in order to showcase the vast tourism potential of Sri Lanka. The IMTM Fair is the largest professional tourism Fair of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean and this year’s Fair had the participation of 40 countries.

The Sri Lanka Booth was opened by Hon. Stas Misezhnikov, the Israeli Minister of Tourism and H.E. Mr. Sarath Wijesinghe, Ambassador with the participation of Mr. Lior Gelfand, Managing Director of the IMTM Fair and other Senior Officials of the Israeli Ministry of Tourism. A Seminar on Sri Lanka’s tourism potential was organised by the Embassy on the margins of the IMTM Fair on 6th February under the theme “Sri Lanka- The Wonder of Asia” which drew a cross section of Israelis from the tourism, travel and trade sectors. During the Seminar, Mr. Ohad Sharav, the Publisher of the Hebrew language version of the Lonely Planet Guide Book on Sri Lanka officially introduced the Guidebook to the audience.
 
The Sri Lanka Booth, which drew large crowds, was attractively designed under the theme “The Wonder of Asia” in order to highlight the diversity of the country. Traditional sweetmeats and Ceylon tea were served to all visitors.
