Sri Lanka pavilion at OTDYKH / LEISURE International Tourism Exhibition, Moscow’s Expocentre, opened by Ambassador Jayatilleka

Today, on September 11, 2018, His Excellency Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, and Madame Sanja Jayatilleka officially opened the Sri Lanka Pavilion at the OTDYKH / LEISURE International Tourism Exhibition at Moscow’s Expocentre. This is the 15th edition of LEISURE Exhibition held since 2001. With 44 participant countries in 2018, LEISURE has become one of Moscow’s largest international tourism fairs. Sri Lanka takes part in this event regularly, under the auspices of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB). This year, Sri Lanka national pavilion has gathered 14 leading stakeholders of Sri Lankan travel market, including destination management companies and hoteliers, offering comprehensive services for demanding customers ranging from larger tourist groups to clients seeking tailor-made luxury tours or adventure escapades to discover our pristine nature and rich culture.

Ambassador Jayatilleka and Madame Jayatilleka were welcomed at the Expocentre by Ms. Madusha Samurdi, Assistant Director (Russia & CIS), SLTPB, and Ms. Chathurika Perera, Second Secretary (Commerce) of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow. It was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial oil lamp.

During the opening ceremony, the Ambassador met Ms. Veronika Dassanayaka, Major of Sri Lanka Army and leader of renowned Army dancing troupe, and admired the artwork of Mr. Sanath Abeysekera, Moscow born and based Sri Lankan architect and designer of the impressive Sri Lanka pavilion.

Ambassador Jayatilleka addressed the Sri Lankan travel agencies and their Russian representatives and partners, underscoring the prominent role of tourism cooperation in the bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Russia.
