Sri Lanka Mission in Kuwait hosts Diplomatic Reception to mark  the 76th Anniversary of Independence

The Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait hosted a Diplomatic Reception cum Cultural Show to mark the 76th Anniversary of Independence at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Kuwait on Tuesday 06 February 2024.

The Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs in the State of Kuwait Dr. Noura Muhammad Khaled Al-Mashaan, graced the Reception as the chief guest. The event was also graced by dignitaries from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Civil Aviation, Interior, Culture and Labour. Additionally, Ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, CEOs of business conglomerates, parliamentarians, UN Agencies, NGOs and leading media personalities were present.

Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Kuwait Kandeepan Balasubramaniam in his address highlighted the efforts of the Government led by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in establishing political stability and resolving the socio economic challengers encountered by the country and how successful has been the recovering phase of the economy so far.  Ambassador of Sri Lanka, appraising the bilateral relations between Kuwait and Sri Lanka, thanked the Government of Kuwait for its support and solidarity towards Sri Lanka that helped strengthening relations.

The cultural troupe from the Revega Dancing Studio performed a range of cultural reflections of Sri Lankan identities. Authentic Sri Lankan cuisine and an assortment of other Sri Lankan food items were enjoyed by over four hundred attendees. The Al Mulla Exchange and the SriLankan Airlines co-sponsored the event.
