Sri Lanka Mission in Kuwait hosts Diplomatic Reception to mark  75th Anniversary of Independence

Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait hosted a diplomatic reception and cultural show to mark the 75th Anniversary of Independence at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kuwait on 08 February 2023.

The Kuwaiti Minister of Public Works and Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Amani Suleman Abdulwahab Buqammaz graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event was also attended by dignitaries from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Civil Aviation, Interior, Culture, and Labour. Additionally, ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, CEOs of business conglomerates, parliamentarians, UN Agencies, NGOs and leading media personalities attended the reception and the cultural show.

Ambassador-designate Kandeepan Balasubramaniam in his address highlighted the efforts of the government led by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in establishing political stability and resolving the socioeconomic challenges faced by the country. He apprised the guests of the bilateral relations between Kuwait and Sri Lanka and thanked the Government of Kuwait for the support and solidarity extended towards Sri Lanka that have helped strengthen relations.

The cultural troupe from the Nisha and Rasika Kothalawala Dance Academy performed a range of cultural reflections of Sri Lankan identities. Over 400 guests attended the reception and were served Sri Lankan cuisine with an assortment of traditional food. The Al Mulla Exchange and Sri Lankan Airlines were co-sponsors of the event.
