Marriot Hotel – Islamabad and Pearl Continental Hotel – Rawalpindi with the support of Sri Lanka High Commission organized a Sri Lanka food festival on the 05 and 06 February 2020 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi in line with the 72nd anniversary of the independence of Sri Lanka.
The Food Festival was kicked off with the press conference on 04 February, 2020 was jointly chaired by the Management of Marriot Hotel - Islamabad/PC Hotel - Rawalpindi, Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, U.L. Niyas and Defence Advisor of the High Commission, Brigadier Shewanth Kulatunge. The Former High Commissioner Mr. Noordeen also graced the event on the invitation of the Marriot Hotel and was invited to make a few remarks in the capacity of Former High Commissioner to encourage the public to attend the Food Festival.
The Food festival offered Sri Lankan cuisine which combines traditional flavors with unique flair and headed by excellent cultural dance performance by the Sri Lank navy cultural troop.
Hotels managed to get down the ingredients for the dishes from Sri Lanka.
Array of fiery and exotic dishes reflecting heritage of Sri Lankan cuisine were made available for the customers.
Among the delicacies served at the festival were Pol Sambol (coconut relish), Fish Ambul Thiyal (sour fish curry) and Kiribath with Lunu Miris (rice with coconut milk).
