
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Brazil, C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne, recently held a discussion with Daniel Cirino de Freitas Patriota of Customer Relations for New Business, Client Relations Directorate of Serviço Federal de Processamento de Dados (SERPRO), on the Investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka. Chairman, Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, Arjuna Herath also joined the discussion virtually from Colombo.
SERPRO is the main principal provider of technological solutions that enables the strategic actions of the Brazilian Government. The company is linked to the Ministry of Finance and provides critical solutions to government and intelligence information to companies.
During the meeting, BOI Chairman, Herath outlined Sri Lanka's current initiatives related to the development of the Data Centre and Cloud Infrastructure, highlighting the country’s strategic location, skilled human capital, and conducive investment climate. He further elaborated on the wide range of investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka, particularly within the IT and digital services sectors.
Ambassador Chaminda Colonne also emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional linkages with key Sri Lankan stakeholders such as the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) and the Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM), with a view to further enhancing bilateral cooperation in IT-related services, exports and also fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between Sri Lanka and Brazil.
Daniel Cirino de Freitas Patriota of SERPRO, shared insights into SERPRO’s international experience, noting that the organization has successfully implemented projects in 46 countries. He highlighted SERPRO’s expertise in areas such as digital transformation, digital identification systems, information security, and blockchain technologies, and expressed interest in exploring potential collaboration opportunities with Sri Lanka.
Both sides discussed opportunities for digitalization within the Airport and Aviation sectors, as well as strategies to strengthen connectivity between business communities of both countries, not only in investment but also in broader areas of technological cooperation as well as on digital trade, through online platforms created by SERPRO in Brazil.
