Sri Lanka Embassy marks 78th Independence Day with Community Health Drive in partnership with Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Centre in Bahrain

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in collaboration with Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Centre successfully organized a Community Health Drive to mark the 78th Independence Day of Sri Lanka. The event took place on 21 February in Hamala in the Northern Governorate of Bahrain.

Members of the Sri Lanka community were warmly welcomed by the Ambassador, the staff of the Embassy and Officials of the Medical Centre.

The programme included awareness sessions conducted by specialist doctors, as well as medical consultations covering ENT, dermatology, ophthalmology, paediatrics, and orthopaedics. Attendees also received a Privilege card granting attractive discounts upto 35% on consultation fees and in house medicines.

Ambassador Shanika Dissanayake in her address underscored the significance of the initiative as a long-term community welfare programme. It was highlighted that the benefits of the privilege card issued to the Sri Lankan community extends beyond the month of February, remaining valid for five years, across all branches of Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Centre, thereby ensuring continued medical care for the Sri Lankan community.

A memento was presented to the Ambassador by the management of Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Centre as a gesture of appreciation of the Embassy’s collaboration.

The event drew strong participation from the Sri Lankan community in Bahrain, including representatives of Sri Lankan Associations and community organizations. Notably, the Sri Lanka Club and several other Sri Lankan associations participated, reflecting strong community engagement and support for the initiative.
