Sri Lanka Embassy in the Sultanate of Oman has opened a new safe house facility to accommodate female migrant domestic workers who seek refuge in the Embassy due to various employment disputes.
A separate safe house for Sri Lankan female migrant domestic workers in the Sultanate of Oman had been a long-felt need over many years.
Opening the separate new safe house premises, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman O.L. Ameer Ajwad said that this long awaited facility was initiated to accommodate Sri Lankan female domestic workers who seek refuge in the Embassy due to various disputes at their work places and to provide them with good living conditions as well as better services until their disputes are resolved. Ambassador Ameer Ajwad also thanked the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) A.A.M. Hilme for the cooperation extended in implementing this initiative.
Embassy staff participated at a simple opening ceremony held at the new premises of the safe house.
