Sri Lanka Embassy in Berlin Welcomes Ladies College Students

A group of six students from the Ladies College, Colombo who visited Germany recently on an exchange programme were received at the Sri Lanka Embassy in Berlin on 17th August 2017 along with their counterparts from the Gymnasium Isernhagen School in Hannover, Germany.

The exchange programme was first initiated by Gymnasium Isernhagen and two schools from Sri Lanka in 1995.  Students from the Ladies College, Colombo and St. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia participate in this programme annually. The exchanges take place during the summer and winter seasons whereby the students are accommodated by host families in the respective countries.

The programme facilitates student exchanges annually in order to familiarize themselves with each others’ educational curriculum, school systems as well as the cultures, politics and economic progress of the two countries.

On the occasion of welcoming Ladies College students, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador Mr. Karunatilake Amunugama organized an interactive programme for them with the participation of Sri Lankan students in German universities and hosted lunch for the visitors.
