Sri Lanka assumes Chair of Asia-Pacific Group at United Nations in Vienna

On January 25th, H. E. Ambassador Priyanee Wijesekera assumed the Chairmanship of the Asia-Pacific Group at United Nations in Vienna from Philippine. In this honourable role, Sri Lanka is coordinating communication and organization of meetings between the 54 members of Asia-Pacific Group and the United Nations Organizations in Vienna. Furthermore, H. E. Ambassador Priyanee Wijesekera is acting as spokesperson of the Asia-Pacific Group. In its capacity as Chair of the Asia-Pacific Group, Sri Lanka represents the member states of Asia-Pacific Group in meetings of the Extended Bureaus at United Nations in Vienna and reports the outgoing of those meetings to the member states.

In its function as Chair, the Embassy and Permanent Representation of Sri Lanka also liaises with the Permanent Representations of member states of the Asia-Pacific Group in Geneva and other countries, if they are not represented directly in Austria.
