Sri Lanka Ambassador to Jordan Hosts Luncheon for AALIA members in Amman

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, J.A.D.S. Priyangika Wijegunasekara, hosted a luncheon for the members of the Asian Ambassadors’ Ladies International Association (AALIA) and friends in Amman to introduce the rich and diverse flavors of Sri Lankan cuisine.

The event, held at the official residence, welcomed lady diplomats and a distinguished group of guests eager to explore Sri Lanka's gastronomic heritage and culture. It provided an immersive experience, allowing attendees to savor authentic Sri Lankan dishes and sweets.

Ambassador Wijegunasekara noted that Sri Lankan food reflects the country’s multicultural society, blending influences from Indian, Malay, and colonial traditions, and that the event served as a wonderful opportunity to showcase these unique aromas and tastes while promoting a deeper understanding of Sri Lankan culture.

Attendees were treated to a curated selection of traditional Sri Lankan delicacies, expertly prepared to showcase the country's renowned gastronomic landscape. Tourism promotional items were displayed, and Sri Lankan handloom shawls were gifted to the invitees. At the end, the attendees enjoyed Ceylon tea.

The event facilitated informal cultural exchange, offering a platform for guests to learn more about Sri Lankan customs and traditions in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere.

The initiative highlights the embassy's commitment to fostering cultural understanding and appreciation through the universal language of food.
