Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow celebrates International Women’s Day

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow organized an event in order to celebrate the International Women’s Day on 09 March 2020. The event was attended by more than 50 participants including Sri Lankan students, Sri Lankan ladies residing in Russia and Russians interested in the Sri Lankan culture and traditions.

The guests were heartily welcomed by Chargé d’affaires of this Mission Mohamed Anas who highlighted the importance of the International Women’s Day. During his speech, Mr. Anas requested all Sri Lankan ladies to establish a Sri Lankan Women’s Club in Russia.

Afterwards a Motivational Speech was presented by the Special Guest of the event, Anna Rossier, the member of the International Women’s Club and the Spouse of the Ambassador of Switzerland to the Russian Federation. Ms. Rossier shared her ideas on the best qualities of Sri Lankan ladies and inspired everyone to follow their positive view on life.

The event continued with the meditation session conducted by two Buddhist priests – Reverent Kadigamuwe Anuruddha Thero and Reverent Suriyawewa Gnanadassi Thero. The clergymen brought the audience to the right state of mind and shared the recommendations on the correct ways of meditation.

The next section of the celebration was dedicated to a yoga session, which was conducted by instructor of Hatha yoga of the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Center in Moscow Victoria Markova.
