Mihin Lanka Now Flies to Another SAARC Destination – Lahore

Mihin Lanka, Sri Lanka’s national low-cost carrier recently expanded its operations, with an inaugural flight from Colombo, Sri Lanka to Lahore, Pakistan. Mihin Lanka’s senior management and team members from Colombo were on-board the aircraft, and were welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute, followed by a celebratory reception which took place at the CIP lounge in Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.

Those who attended the event included His Excellency Major General Kureshi Qazim, High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, His Excellency Air Chief Marshall (retired) Jayalath Weerakkody, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Pakistan and Lal Thalgaswatte, a member of the Mihin Lanka Board of Directors. Also present were Capt. Pujitha Jayakody, Director Flight Operations, Mihin Lanka, Asanka Fernando, Head of Sales, Mihin Lanka and Lal Perera, Head of Sales, SriLankan Airlines.

Mihin Lanka now extends its network to ten destinations covering the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and Far East and has established itself as one of the most admired affordable travel brands in the region. The airline expanded its operations to Pakistan, to meet the growing demand for flights, which is fueled by an increase in tourism and trade between both countries. Mihin Lanka commenced flights to Lahore, on 17 November 2014 with three flights per week (scheduled every Monday, Wednesday and Friday). The flying time from Colombo to Lahore is approximately three hours forty five minutes and flights will depart from Colombo at 7.45 p.m.
