The Sri Lanka High Commission in Pretoria organized a Memorial Prayer Service on 28.04.2019, in memory of Sri Lankans and Foreign Nationals who lost their lives and to pray for speedy recovery of the injured victims, during the celebration of Easter Mass, by the multiple terrorist attacks at churches and 3 five star hotels in Colombo on Sunday the 21st April, 2019.

Sri Lankans living in South Africa participated at the solemn memorial service with      Sr. Mary Catherine Frances from Sri Lanka, and 3 other Sisters from Kenya and Madagascar. The gathering observed a two minutes silence in memory of the victims of the tragedy.

Addressing the audience, H.E. Kumar Mallimaratchi stated that this senseless act is against humanity and impossible to think, once again happen in Sri Lanka. After terrorism was defeated in 2009, we are all shocked to witness suicide bombings, which killed innocent Christian devotees in churches and tourists in hotels. He also mentioned that Sri Lankans are resilient, and will get over this tragedy by getting rid of extremists. H.E., on behalf of the gathering, expressed the solidarity and sympathy with the people of Sri Lanka and all the victims of terror.
