May 2015 be a New Year which brings all hopes of peace, love, friendship, co-existence and prosperity to all people of Sri Lanka, states Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne in a new year message issued yesterday.
The message stated: "The past has taught us many lessons about the ill effects of division on communal religions, caste, colour and party lines.
"Today Sri Lanka has become a significant country in the world, which has a great leader who defeated the most dreaded scourge of terrorism through self-reliance.
If Sri Lankans have overcome with indomitable courage and physical strength, we should also win the development war with dedication. The message further added:
"If people are to realize their dreams for themselves and their families, they should understand the common hopes and desires we have for the country".
"Let us first dedicate our first thought in the new year towards achieving that objective. The day Sri Lanka becomes a fully developed country is the day on which all our dreams will come true. That day is not far away. Let us eschew all differences and join hands to achieve that objective.
"A happy New Year to all".
