It is with pleasure that we announce that from now onwards, there is a place in Shanghai, not far away from the city centre - People’s Square, which serves our own, the world renowned, Ceylon Tea.

MABROC Tea Rooms is the first Ceylon Tea centre in Shanghai where you can taste an authentic cup of Ceylon Tea. The centre was inaugurated on 31st August 2012 with a simple ceremony at the Shanghai Marriot Hotel City Center Complex, just a two-minute walk from the Shanghai city centre, People’s Square.

Ms. Hasanthi Dissanayake, Consul General for Sri Lanka in Shanghai and Mr. Chen Zi Fa, Secretary General of Shanghai Tea Trade Association inaugurated the centre with the ribbon cutting followed by lighting the oil lamp in traditional Sri Lankan style.

The Centre, which is a first of a chain, on similar lines as Starbucks, is the brain child of Mr. Sameera Jayasena, CEO China Business Centre Group, agents for MABROC teas in Shanghai. The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Shanghai encouraged and support throughout the process from identifying suitable venues to the inauguration.

The inauguration of the MABROC Tea Rooms indeed is a small, but yet a significant cornerstone for Ceylon Tea in Shanghai which enable the Shanghainese as well as visitors to Shanghai an opportunity to taste pure Ceylon Tea in its original form.

The main menu includes regular Ceylon Tea varieties of MABROC including flavoured teas. Teas are also sold in packs and canisters.
