High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Air Chief Marshal (Retd) Sumangala Dias had a meeting with the Associate Professor (Registrar) and Head of Admission of University Teknologi Petronas on 07 July 2023.
The meeting concluded with positive discussions regarding collaboration between UTP and Sri Lanka. The main area of discussion was directed towards establishing greater ties between the University Teknologi Petronas (UTP) and Sri Lanka Higher Education bodies (University Grants Commission).
During the discussion, it was informed that it would be more advantages for both parties to initiate an MoU between UTP and UGC which is the APEX body that covers all universities in Sri Lanka and such MoU will facilitate UTP to engage with any university in Sri Lanka and students who desire to pursue their higher education with the University of Petronas. Also, it was requested to present a proposal to the UGC in order to obtain their views in this regard and discuss areas such as exploring scholarship opportunities, offering internships, providing financial support through Graduate Assistantship and GRA Grants, and research collaboration with international grants, Academic Staff/student exchange.
Apart from the High Commissioner, Dr. Ku Zilati Bt Ku Shaari (Assosite Professor),Head of Admission Tajul Ariffin Bin Shamsuddin, Third Secretary of the High Commission Eranthi Rangebandara were involved in the Discussion.
