
The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathne, met with a group of Sri Lankan Reverend Fathers and Sisters, along with a Reverend Sister from Pakistan, on 26 September 2025 at the Indigo Heights Hotel in Lahore. Many of the Sri Lankan Reverend Fathers and Sisters have been serving in Pakistan for over four decades, making profound contributions to religious, educational, and humanitarian efforts across the country.
The meeting took place in a warm atmosphere, reflecting the strong people-to-people ties and shared spiritual values that unite the communities of Pakistan and Sri Lanka. During the discussion, High Commissioner Senevirathne expressed his appreciation to the clergy and religious sisters for their visit. He acknowledged their vital role in fostering peace, compassion, and social cohesion within their educational institutions and the across the broader society.
High Commissioner Senevirathne encouraged the clergy and religious sisters to maintain close contact with the High Commission for any support or assistance they may require during their stay or throughout their service in Pakistan.
The Reverend Fathers and Sisters extended their congratulations to High Commissioner Senevirathne on his appointment as the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, wishing him a successful tenure. They also expressed their gratitude to him for arranging the gathering.
Minister at the High Commission, A. Christy Ruban and the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Lahore, Yasin Joyia were also present at the meeting.
