At the invitation of the Rotarians of Rotary District 63, the High Commissioner-designate of the Sri Lanka High Commission in Islamabad, Rear – Admiral Fred Senevirathne participated in the closing ceremony of the Rotary Club Leaders Learning Seminar 2025–26 for North Zone Rotary Club Leaders. The event, held under the theme "Empowering Club Officers for Impactful Leadership", took place on 27 July 2025 at the Islamabad Hotel, Pakistan.
The High Commissioner-designate was warmly received by Past District Governor for Sri Lanka and the Maldives and an International Trainer, Pubudu De Zoysa along with other Rotarians who are prominent members of the business community, senior government officials and retired senior civil servants & defence forces.
During the meeting, Rotarians shared their experiences and contributions in Pakistan and other countries, particularly highlighting their efforts toward eradicating polio and supporting global vaccination initiatives.
In his address, the High Commissioner-designate expressed his gratitude for being invited as the Chief Guest and welcomed the opportunity to engage with Rotarians in strengthening networks for the mutual benefit of Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
During the networking session, Senevirathne engaged in constructive discussions on the opportunities and challenges in enhancing trade and business ties between the two countries. Both sides expressed a shared interest in exploring avenues for deeper economic engagement and reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing community service initiatives championed by Rotary Clubs in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
The event underscored the importance of people-to-people connections and emphasized the significant role of service organizations like Rotary in fostering bilateral cooperation and goodwill.
Participants were awarded certificates by the High Commissioner-designate and Minister of the High Commission, Christy Ruban who attended the event as Guest of Honour.
