
The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Maldives showcased the higher education opportunities in Sri Lanka at Vara Expo 2025 organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development of Maldives from 6-8 November 2025 at Central Park Hulhumale.
The exhibition was inaugurated on 6 November by First Lady of Maldives, Madam Sajidha Mohamed as the Chief Guest at a ceremony attended by Ministers, Diplomats and other dignitaries. The High Commission of Sri Lanka stall was graced by the presence of First Lady subsequent to the inauguration ceremony during which the High Commissioner M. Rizvi Hassen briefed her on the higher education opportunities available in Sri Lanka for Maldivian students.
The Sri Lanka stall featured the study programmes and scholarships offered to international students by Openskies Flight Training (Pvt) Ltd, CINEC Campus, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS), Kelaniya University and Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC). The higher diploma, degree, master and phd programmes ranging from aviation training, maritime studies, Engineering, Business Management and Information Technology were major interests among those who visited Sri Lanka stall.
Vara Expo 2025 is an annual national skills and career exhibition organized by the Ministry Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development of Maldives that features educational and training institutions, skills providers, and key stakeholders from the job market. This year the three-day Expo featured 166 stalls in three dedicated zones: the Education Zone, the Career Zone, and employer booths and interview area. The expo was attended by 15,000 Maldivian students and job seekers.
