High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore celebrates Ramadan with an Iftar gathering  

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore hosted an Iftar dinner on 17 March 2025 to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan with the members of the Sri Lankan Muslim community residing in Singapore. The event created a deep sense of belonging among the Sri Lankan diaspora while emphasizing values of compassion, reflection, and togetherness.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Education and Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Dr. Maliki Bin Osman attended the event as the guest of honour.

Welcoming the guests, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Singapore, Senarath Dissanayake underscored the significance of Ramadan as a time for self-reflection, generosity, and communal solidarity. He expressed appreciation for Singapore’s exemplary efforts in fostering interfaith understanding and promoting multiculturalism, values that align closely with Sri Lanka’s commitment to peaceful coexistence among diverse communities.

Religious observances were led by Qari Sheikh Ibrahim from Balavi Mosque. Following the breaking of the fast, the attendees engaged in Maghrib prayers.  The evening concluded with a delightful traditional Sri Lankan Iftar dinner organized by the High Commission, providing guests with an opportunity to savour the flavours of Sri Lankan cuisine.
