Embassy of Sri Lanka in Yangon celebrates the 75th Anniversary of the Independence Day of Sri Lanka

The 75th Anniversary of the Independence Day of Sri Lanka was commemorated by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Yangon, from 3 - 4 February 2023.

A cultural show followed by a diplomatic reception was held on 03 February evening at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Yangon.

A large gathering including ambassadors, diplomats, dignitaries of UN specialized agencies and international organizations, officials of ministries, officials of the Chambers of Commerce, travel agents and media personnel attended the event. Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture of Myanmar, KoKo was the guest of honour at this function.

Sri Lanka Ambassador to Myanmar Janaka Bandara warmly welcomed the gathering and appreciated their continuous support towards Sri Lanka.

The occasion was colourful with the dance performances by the cultural troupe of Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy.

A Sri Lankan Food Corner and a Ceylon Tea Corner were launched at the reception and promotional items were displayed.

The official ceremony was held on 4 February at the Embassy premises and attended by the Sri Lankan community in Myanmar.

The official ceremony comprised of hoisting the National Flag, singing the National Anthem, reading the messages of the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka and remarks by the Ambassador.

The event was followed by a reception and  cultural performances by the cultural troupe of Sri Dalada Maligawa.
