
The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Bangkok hosted a Christmas celebration on 23 December 2025 at the Embassy premises, bringing together members of the Sri Lankan and Thai communities, religious representatives, and Embassy staff.
In her opening remarks, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe welcomed the gathering and reflected on the values of peace, compassion, and goodwill that define the spirit of Christmas and unite people across cultures and faiths. She also remembered the Sri Lankan nationals affected by Cyclone Ditwah, which caused widespread devastation, loss of life, and displacement of families. The Ambassador expressed appreciation to the Sri Lankan community in Thailand and Thai friends for their solidarity and contributions towards relief and recovery efforts.
Religious observances were led by the Principal and Director of Don Bosco Higher Vocational Education, Sri Lanka Reverend Doctor Manjula Priyantha, who delivered a blessing and reflection highlighting the essence of Christmas. A message was also delivered by Pastor of the International Church of Bangkok Sean Rajapaksa.
The celebration featured a Christmas carol performance by Embassy staff. Guests also brought gifts for children affected by the recent disaster in Sri Lanka, reflecting the spirit of generosity and compassion.
The event included traditional Sri Lankan cuisine and cultural elements, providing an opportunity for cultural exchange. The celebration reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to promoting unity, inclusivity, and people-to-people connections.
