Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jordan hosts Iftar dinner

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan hosted an Iftar dinner at the Embassy premises on 27 March 2025. The event was attended by the Sri Lankan community and a number of Jordanian well-wishers.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Jordan, J.A.D.S. Priyangika Wijegunasekara highlighted that the objectives of the event were to promote community integration and unity among all Sri Lankans in Jordan, connecting them with the Embassy’s activities, and encourage Jordanian friends to strengthen ties with Sri Lanka.  Moreover, the Ambassador appreciated the presence of Sri Lankans from all religious faiths at the event, which showed the togetherness of Sri Lankans in Jordan irrespective of their religious beliefs and cultural backgrounds. The Ambassador also valued the significance of Ramadan and its relevance to the way of life and for world peace.

The Imam Imam Difallah Mohammad Atayah Aboryash delivered a speech on the significance of Ramadan, explaining to the audience the spiritual essence of the holy month and its benefits of participating in specific rituals of fasting, prayers, and charitable activities.

The event was attended by around 200 participants. All participants were served with traditional Sri Lankan biriyani and Ceylon tea.
