Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jordan Celebrates Christmas 2025

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jordan held a vibrant Christmas celebration on 26 December 2025 at the Embassy premises, bringing together members of the Sri Lankan community and Embassy staff in a warm and festive atmosphere.

In her opening remarks, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, J.A.D.S. Priyangika Wijegunasekara, warmly welcomed the crowd and highlighted the enduring values of peace, compassion, and goodwill that embody the true spirit of Christmas and unite people of all faiths.

The Ambassador also recalled the Sri Lankan nationals affected by Cyclone Ditwah and the extensive damage caused to critical infrastructure across the country. She expressed her sincere appreciation to the Sri Lankan community and well-wishers in Jordan for their solidarity and generous contributions towards relief and recovery efforts, noting that such acts of compassion truly reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Religious observances were conducted by Reverend Alexander Fernando of Amman Jabal Weibdeh Church, who delivered a meaningful reflection and blessing, offering spiritual comfort and invoking blessings upon all Sri Lankans and the nation.

A highlight of the celebration was a captivating Christmas carol performance, which was warmly received by the audience. The festivities were further enhanced by the appearance of Santa Claus, who delighted attendees and added to the joyful spirit of the occasion.

The celebration provided an important platform to strengthen bonds within the Sri Lankan community in Jordan, while reaffirming the Embassy’s commitment to promoting unity, harmony, and inclusivity.
