
A free medical camp was successfully organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan Engineering Society in Bahrain, in collaboration with the American Mission Hospital on 16 May 2025. The event, held at the Embassy premises, was done with the aim of promoting the health and wellbeing of Sri Lankan expatriates living and working in Bahrain.
The camp provided free multi diagnostic medical checkups to over 100 Sri Lankans who had registered through a QR code, offering a range of essential health services. These included BMI assessments, blood pressure and blood sugar testing, ENT screenings, eye and dental examinations, as well as consultations with specialized Doctors and a dietitian. Attendees received professional medical advice and were encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyle habits as a means of disease prevention and long-term wellness.
Inaugurating the event, Ambassador Shanika Dissanayake extended her appreciation to the Sri Lankan Engineering Society and the American Mission Hospital for their contributions to the success of the initiative., She commended their commitment to this noble cause in the holy month of Vesak, noting that such outreach programmes reflect the Embassy’s commitment towards safeguarding the welfare of Sri Lankan nationals in Bahrain.
Welcoming attendees, President of the Sri Lankan Engineering Society Nilanga Gunawardena, emphasized the significance of maintaining health awareness within the expatriate community.
Representing the American Mission Hospital, Dr. Babu Ramachandran reaffirmed the hospital’s longstanding support for the Sri Lankan community in Bahrain and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with the Embassy and the Engineering Society.
