
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Kingdom of Bahrain successfully hosted a tourism promotion event titled “Sri Lanka Is Ready” on 29 December 2025 at the Grand Swiss-Bel hotel Waterfront in Seef. The event brought together a distinguished group of social media influencers, media representatives, travel and lifestyle content creators in Bahrain’s tourism sector.
The programme began with the screening of a Sri Lanka tourism promotional video featuring the Pekoe Trail, followed by a captivating traditional cultural performance by Madhuka and Hiruni Tennakoon of the Shasthra Dance Studio in Bahrain, offering guests a glimpse of the island’s rich heritage and artistic traditions.
Ambassador Shanika Dissanayake, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting that Sri Lanka’s tourism infrastructure is fully operational, offering safe, diverse, and high-quality travel experiences. She noted the country’s rich and diverse culinary heritage shaped by Portuguese, Dutch and British influences with Sri Lankan cuisine renowned for its vibrant flavours.
A comprehensive presentation on Sri Lanka tourism was delivered by Minister of the Embassy, Madhuka Silva, emphasizing Sri Lanka’s resilience and rapid recovery following Cyclone Ditwah, and outlining the island’s unique offerings including cultural heritage, pristine beaches, wildlife, adventure tourism, wellness and Ayurveda, halal and family-friendly travel.
The event concluded with an authentic Sri Lankan breakfast, featuring traditional dishes prepared with fresh Sri Lankan local produce exported to Bahrain such as jackfruit, pineapple, Mango, Rambutan, and cashews served alongside Ceylon Cinnamon infused tea mocktails reflecting Sri Lanka’s renowned tea culture.
Complementing the Sri Lankan culinary experience, invitees were treated to a display of Sri Lankan artisanal products of wooden carvings, clay, cane, porcelain, and batik creations offering visitors a glimpse into the country’s vibrant arts and crafts.
