A Sri Lanka Destination Promotion Event was held on 10 July 2025 at the Sri Lanka Embassy premises in Manama, with the participation of leading Bahraini travel and tour operators.
Ambassador Shanika Dissanayake in her opening remarks noted the untapped potential of the Bahraini market and emphasized Sri Lanka’s readiness to welcome more travellers from Bahrain and the wider Gulf region. She underscored the growing interest in nature-based tourism and wellness travel where Sri Lanka holds a distinct comparative advantage.
Minister and Head of Chancery of the Embassy, Madhuka Silva delivered a comprehensive presentation on Sri Lanka’s diverse tourist attractions, highlighting the country’s unique offerings in wellness tourism, adventure experiences, and wildlife. She emphasized Sri Lanka’s appeal as a family-friendly, year-round destination, renowned for its natural beauty, rich biodiversity, and vibrant cultural heritage.
A Q&A session followed the presentation, providing a platform for an interactive engagement with the attendees.
Attendees were treated to a spread of Sri Lankan sweetmeats and Ceylon tea.
