The Embassy of Sri Lanka, together with the Sri Lankan Community in the Kingdom of Bahrain, celebrated Vesak Day at the Chancery premises on May 12, 2025. The event brought together members of the Sri Lankan community and members of the Buddhist clergy.
The celebration commenced with the observance of Buddhist religious rituals, including the offering of flowers. A Dhamma sermon was led by Ven. Dr. Kandegama Deepawansalankara Thero, Senior Lecturer, Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka in Pitipana and Ven. Waththegama Vajira Buddhi Thero. Their sermons focused on the profound teachings of the Buddha, emphasizing the importance of compassion, peace and mindfulness, offering valuable spiritual guidance for the Sri Lankan community.
The Embassy premises were beautifully adorned by the staff of the Embassy with Vesak lanterns and traditional decorations symbolizing the light of wisdom.
