Delegation from Sri Lanka Police visits Viet Nam

A five-member delegation from Sri Lanka Police headed by DIG Sanjeewa Dharmaratne visited Viet Nam from 16 to 20 September 2019.

This exchange of the delegations took place under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in the field of training for the police forces between National Police Academy of Sri Lanka and the People’s Police Academy of the Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam in 12 December 2018.

The delegation visited the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ha Noi on 18 September 2019. Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Mission P.K. Boomawalage warmly welcomed the delegation to the Embassy and had a fruitful discussion on the cooperation between two countries in terms of defense.

The delegation met with the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam Nguyen Van Thanh on 18 September 2019. The Deputy Minister stated that both sides should coordinate to strengthen activities of exchanging experiences of law enforcement, to effectively prevent and combat transnational crimes specially the crimes involving citizens of the two countries. In response the head of the delegation appreciated the achievements of the Vietnamese people in general and the Vietnam Police force in particular in counter terrorism efforts and mentioned that, Sri Lanka Police always attach great importance and desire to further promote relations with the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in all areas of mutual interest.
