The newly appointed Consul General-designate of Sri Lanka to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Alexi Gunasekera assumed duties at the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai on Monday, 10 July 2023.
Addressing the staff, Consul General-designate highlighted the importance of proactive engagement with Dubai in strengthening Sri Lanka’s economic linkages in particular trade, investments and tourism, while parallelly working towards providing expeditious consular services to the Sri Lankan community. He also underlined the importance of working closely with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi, and all relevant stakeholders, including the Sri Lankan community based in the UAE, the business support organizations etc. in further consolidating the existing good relations between the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka.
