Marking the 78th National Independence Day celebrations, the Embassy together with the Sri Lanka Tea Board and Helanhong Winery, officially launched a pioneering wine infused with world-renowned Ceylon Tea at the Diplomatic Reception held at the St. Regis Beijing on 5th February 2026. The Launch was attended by the Director General of the Asia Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the Director General, Foreign Affairs Office, Ningxia Autonomous Region.
The innovative product was unveiled at the Diplomatic Reception, symbolizing a unique fusion of Sri Lanka’s flagship tea heritage with China’s growing wine industry.
The Embassy also facilitated an exclusive pairing initiative combining premium Ceylon Tea with wines produced by Helanhong Winery in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Located in North-Central China, Ningxia has emerged as one of the country’s premier wine-producing regions. This collaboration was facilitated by the Provincial Government of Ningxia as a Government-to-Government (G2G) initiative, reflecting the expanding scope of bilateral cooperation beyond traditional sectors.
The launch of Ceylon Tea-infused wine stands as a testament to innovation, cultural exchange, and the deepening partnership between Sri Lanka and China.
