The Embassy of Sri Lanka together with the ‘Beijing- Lanka Youth Forum’ joined hands with the Sri Lankan community in Beijing and surrounding cities in celebrating the Sinhala and Hindu New Year in a colorful event organized at the Embassy premises on 9th April 2011.

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in London celebrated Sinhala Tamil New Year today, 15 April, at the High Commission, with a simple ceremony. The staff as well as the Sri Lankan expatriates and British nationals who had come to obtain consular services were also invited to join.

Sri Lanka and Montenegro established formal diplomatic relations on 04th April, 2011 in New York. Dr. Palitha T.B. Kohona, Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations signed the Joint Communiqué on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka, while his counterpart, Mr. Milorad Scepanoric signed for the Montenegro side.

Ambassador Admiral (Rtd.) Wasantha Karannagoda with Embassy staff and Sri Lankan community members in Japan visited two evacuation centres in Fukushima prefecture in Japan on Sunday (03/04) to show solidarity with the people and Government of Japan.
 

A 8 member delegation led by Hon.Namal Rajapaksa, Member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka and accompanying Member of the Parliament Hon.U.S Lokubandara visited Kathmandu from 31st March to 1st 2011. The delegation was in Nepal to attend to an event organized by the Entrepreneurs Organisation-Nepal Chapter. At the event, held on 1st April 2011, Hon.Namal Rajapaksa presented a paper on "Sri Lanka-the success story" which was highly commended by the young entrepreneurs around the world.

The annual ‘Destination Nature Fair’ was held in Paris from 25th to 27th March 2011 with the participation of more than 200 companies, including companies from Sri Lanka.

 Sri Lanka’s participation, which was facilitated by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, saw the participation of Exotic Global Holidays (Pvt.) Ltd., NKAR Travels and Tours (Pvt.) Ltd. as well as Eco Team (Pvt.) Ltd.

The current resident Sri  Lanka High Commissioner   in  South Africa  D. Wijesinghe, presented his credentials to  the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Armanado Emilio Guebuza  on 23rd March 2011  in Maputo,    as the newly accredited High Commissioner of Sri Lanka  to the Republic of Mozambique.
