Sri Lankan fishing vessel “Proboda Putha” toppled in the deep sea approx 470 NM West of Chennai and 290 NM East of Port Blair (Anandaman and Nicobar island) on 10 th November 2012. A Sri Lankan fishing vessel in the vicinity rescued three crew members but one fisherman has not been found.
Sri Lanka at the October Festival in Munich
A taxi campaign was organised by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Berlin in collaboration with Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau during the ‘October Festival’ in Munich from 22nd September to 7th October 2012. The purpose of this project was to promote Sri Lanka as a destination for Tourism with unique aspects. The October Festival is held annually in Munich, which is visited by more than 6.9 million people from various parts of Germany and neighbouring countries.
Consulate in Mumbai organizes an exhibition on ‘The Buddhism in Sri Lanka”
The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai in association with the Kala Bhavan in Thane, Mumbai inaugurated a photographic exhibition under the theme of “ The Buddhism in Sri Lanka”. The exhibition was opened to the public from 8th to 11th November 2012. The Mayor of Thane, Harishchandra Patil, representing the political party of Shiv Sena and the Electoral Member of the Republican Party of India, Asha Babasaheb Kamble, participated at the inauguration ceremony.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka flies Country’s Flag high at the “Global Village Festival” at Itaewon
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul successfully participated at the Global Village Festival organized by the Itaewon District Office from 12th -14th October 2012.
Global Village Festival, an annual event which began in 2008 aims to promote the rich multicultural diversity and harmony which exists in the Republic of Korea. More than 600,000 visitors participated during the 3 day event.
