An event to celebrate the Deepavali Festival was organized by the Sri Lanka High Commission in Ottawa and, the Consulate General on 18th November 2012 at the Don Bosco Auditorium in Toronto.

Enchanting Sri Lanka: through Chinese Eyes Photography Exhibition in Shanghai
The exhibition shared the experiences of a group of six Chinese tourists during their visit to Sri Lanka. The group included Yanhua Ma, CEO of Annie Crystals Gallery, Yao Zhen, Shi Xiangqun, Lu Yan, Xiao Aoshuang and Zhou Damin. The exhibition which was originally planned 13 days from 18th October, was extended by popular demand until 30th November 2012.
Deepavali Celebrated in Kuwait
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kuwait celebrated the Festival of Lights “Deepavali” on 16th Friday, November 2012 along with the members of Tamil Community as well as members from other communities. Sri Lanka Ambassador C A H M Wijeratne welcoming the guests stressed the importance of Deepavali and stated that such celebrations create much needed harmony in the Sri Lankan Community living in Kuwait. Traditional sweetmeats associated with Deepavali were distributed among the participants at the event.

Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Sri Lanka and Suriname
Upon the Signing of Agreement by H.E. Dr Palitha T. B. Kohona, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations and H.E. Mr. Henry Leonard Mac-Donald, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Suriname to the United Nations on 16th November, 2012 in New York, the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Suriname decided to establish Diplomatic Relations between the two countries with effect from 16th November, 2012.
