Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa along with senior government officials met UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid at the Palais Wilson in Geneva on Sunday, 13 September 2014.
On the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will undertake an Official visit to India from 14th to 16th September 2015.
During the visit, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka will hold talks with his Indian counterpart and call on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee. Indian Cabinet Ministers and political leaders are among those who are expected to call on the Prime Minister.
Due to situation of wide strikes / Bandh in Nepal there have been some disruptions to transport and other services in a number of areas. All previously stranded Sri Lankan nationals in Lumbini, due to road closures, have been repatriated back.
Hon. Dr. Harsha de Silva assumed duties as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Foreign Ministry today, Friday 11th September 2015.
It is with profound grief and sorrow that we learnt about the death of forty-five soldiers from Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates in Yemen while contributing to restore security and stability of the country.
